A Honeymoon Designed Around the Two of You
A honeymoon safari should feel nothing like a tour. There is no group, no shared vehicle and no fixed timetable: just the two of you, your own guide, and days that unfold at your pace. Early-morning game drives in the Serengeti, long lunches in camp, sundowners as the plains turn gold, and evenings by the fire.
We choose camps for their setting and their sense of privacy, and we build in time to simply be there. Most of our honeymoon couples finish with a few days on Zanzibar, and we always recommend a night in Stone Town for its history and atmosphere before the beach.
Every honeymoon is planned by our team in Arusha, and our own guides look after you on safari, so the people who design your trip are the people who deliver it.

How Long Should a Honeymoon Safari Be?
Most couples choose nine to twelve days: five or six on safari and three to five on the beach. Our 10-Day Tanzania Honeymoon Safari and Zanzibar follows exactly that rhythm through Tarangire, the Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti. With less time, the 7-Day Serengeti Safari and Zanzibar keeps the essentials, and the 4-Day Fly-In Serengeti Safari pairs beautifully with a longer beach stay.

The Best Time for a Honeymoon Safari
June to October brings dry, sunny weather on safari and on the coast, and the easiest game viewing. Late December to February is equally lovely, with warm seas and the calving season in the southern Serengeti. November is green, quiet and good value. The long rains of April and May are the quietest time, and some camps and beach hotels close.

Ask a questionIs a safari a good honeymoon?
For couples who love nature, it is hard to beat: extraordinary days together, then a beach to unwind. A private safari means the pace and the privacy are entirely yours.
How do we split safari and beach?
Five or six safari days and three to five beach nights suits most couples. We adjust it to your dates.
Can we add a hot-air balloon flight?
Yes. A dawn balloon flight over the Serengeti can be added to most routes, subject to availability.
Do camps offer anything special for honeymooners?
Many do, from a special dinner to small touches in your tent. Tell us you are on honeymoon and we will let each camp know.
When should we book?
Six to twelve months ahead is ideal for June to October and the Christmas period. Outside those times, a few months is usually enough.
What does a private Tanzania safari cost?
It depends mainly on the season, the number of days and the lodges you choose. Our private northern-circuit itineraries start from about US$3,100 per person for five days in Classic comfort, and rise with Mid-Luxury and Luxury camps. Park and conservation fees are set by the government and make up a significant share of every safari, and they are included in our prices. Every itinerary page shows a starting price per person, and we quote exactly for your dates.
Is every Emnel safari private?
Yes. You have your own vehicle and your own guide for the whole safari, and the daily pace, start times and stops are set around you, never around a group.
Who will our guide be?
One of Emnel's own guides. The team that plans your safari is the team that runs it. About two weeks before you arrive, we send your trip companion, with your guide's details and everything else you need for the journey.
When is the best time to go on safari in Tanzania?
Tanzania offers excellent game viewing all year. June to October is the classic dry season, with easy game viewing and the migration in the north. January to March brings the calving season in the southern Serengeti. The long rains of April and May are quieter and greener, and some camps close. We will recommend the best timing and route for what you most want to see.
How does booking work?
Tell us your dates and ideas, and we will design an itinerary and send a detailed proposal. To confirm, we ask for a 30% deposit plus any domestic flights, which are issued on confirmation. You then receive your official confirmation, and about two weeks before you travel, your trip companion with every final detail.
Can we add Zanzibar to our safari?
Yes. A short flight from the Serengeti or Arusha takes you to Zanzibar's beaches. We recommend at least one night in Stone Town alongside your beach stay.
