What it is like
Olerai is warm, unpretentious and close to Arusha Airport, with more nature on the doorstep than most stays near town. It belongs to the same collection as Tamu Tamu in the Serengeti, which makes for an easy, consistent pairing. We recommend it for couples and families who want something calm and comfortable without the cost of the larger estates.

Olerai sits among coffee and gardens on the green outskirts of Arusha, part of the Olerai Wilderness Collection. On clear evenings Mount Meru fills the view from the sundowner firepit, and on the luckiest days Kilimanjaro appears too. Monkeys, porcupines and plenty of birdlife share the grounds.
Rooms range from singles, doubles and twins to triples, family rooms with interconnecting options and a honeymoon room, all looking out over the gardens. The kitchen cooks with fresh local ingredients, and there's a pool, nature trails and bikes, and a small spa offering massages.
### Where it fits on your safari
Olerai is about fifteen minutes from Arusha Airport and around an hour and a quarter from Kilimanjaro International. The last stretch of road is unpaved and bumpy, a gentle warm-up for safari. It works well the night before a fly-in or road safari, or as a calm stop on the way home.
