Your Kilimanjaro adventure begins with your arrival in Arusha. After picking you up, we’ll take you to your accommodation for a gear check and trek briefing. You’ll be able to rent any necessary equipment you might have forgotten. Afterward, enjoy a relaxing evening and prepare for the journey ahead.

The trek begins at Lemosho Gate, where you’ll register before hiking through lush rainforests filled with wildlife, including Colobus monkeys and exotic birds. The trail leads to Mti Mkubwa Camp (Big Tree Camp), where you’ll spend your first night on the mountain.

Leaving the rainforest behind, you’ll ascend into the heather and moorland zone. The trail leads to Shira 1 Camp, offering breathtaking views of Mount Meru and the Shira Plateau.

A short day of trekking allows for acclimatization as you cross the Shira Plateau to reach Shira 2 Camp. You’ll enjoy stunning views of Kibo Peak and experience the thinning air as you gain elevation.

This day follows the “climb high, sleep low” strategy to improve acclimatization. You’ll ascend to Lava Tower (4,630m/15,190ft) before descending to Barranco Camp, known for its beautiful valley and towering cliffs.

Hiking Time: 8-10 hours
Habitat: Alpine Desert
After tackling the famous Barranco Wall, you’ll continue past Karanga Valley, you’ll head straight to Barafu Camp. This is your base camp for the summit attempt. Rest early to prepare for the final push to the peak.

Habitat: Arctic to Rainforest
The summit push starts at midnight, trekking through the freezing Arctic zone. You’ll reach Stella Point (5,756m/18,885ft) before making the final ascent to Uhuru Peak, Africa’s highest point. After celebrating at the summit, you’ll descend to Mweka Camp for the night.

The final descent takes you through lush rainforest to Mweka Gate, where you’ll receive your summit certificate. From there, you’ll be transferred back to Arusha/Moshi for a well-earned rest and trek debrief.
After breakfast, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight or continue with an optional Tanzania safari or Zanzibar beach extension.
